Maurits is a founding partner and co-chair of the firm’s international arbitration and litigation practice. He represents clients in complex, high-value disputes across a range of industries, with a focus on technology, energy, financial services, construction, and retail.
Maurits has acted in more than 50 international arbitrations and legal proceedings before Dutch courts, with values in dispute regularly exceeding billions of dollars. Prior to co-founding 4DArbitration, Maurits worked for over a decade at the Band 1 Chambers and Tier 1 Legal 500-ranked Arbitration and Litigation practice of a large international law firm.
Maurits is a recognized expert in contractual disputes, liability claims, corporate litigation, enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, and annulment of arbitral awards. Maurits also advises clients on large cross-border corporate and financial transactions in the Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean.
Maurits teaches at various institutions and is a member of the Dutch Association for Procedural Law, the Dutch Corporate Litigation Association and the Dutch Arbitration Association. He is admitted to the Dutch Bar. Maurits graduated in law (with Honors) from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Tilburg University, Oxford University and the Grotius Academy.
