Renze Streng

Senior Counsel | Head of Dutch Supreme Court Litigation

‘Renze combines razor-sharp legal analysis with a deep understanding of our commercial objectives. He knows our case inside out, asks the right questions and delivers results that matter to our business.’

Renze is one of a select group of advocates certified by the Dutch Bar Association to represent clients in cassation proceedings before the Dutch Supreme Court — the final stage of civil litigation. He brings over two decades of experience in high-stakes Dutch and international disputes to every matter he handles.

Before joining the firm, Renze served for seven years as counsel at the Supreme Court’s own research department, working directly with the Court’s Advocates General in preparing their Opinions in landmark cases — including Ecuador/Chevron, Yukos Oil and Srebrenica. That insider perspective fundamentally shapes how he approaches cassation and litigation strategy at every stage of proceedings. He previously practised at leading law firms in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, handling a broad range of high-value commercial and cross-border disputes.

Renze’s practice focuses on cross-border commercial disputes, civil procedure, international private law, state immunity, and the enforcement of arbitral awards. He combines advanced academic training in investment treaty arbitration with hands-on professional experience in Latin America & the Caribbean, and regularly acts for and alongside sovereign states, multinationals, and international law firms.

Renze has published widely on matters of private international law. He is fluent in Dutch, English, and Spanish.
